tipitty toeing on life, looking for takers!
<
hello folks…
over the last weekend, i managed to catch a couple of good movies on cable tv. to me, good movies are movies that i watch alone, and these movies somehow doesn’t necessarily mean box office big bucks, but they’re thought provoking pieces of film magic. i’m talking about films such as stuck on you, rushmore, man from ellysian fields, by the way, these are the titles of movies that watched the other day.
stuck on you (i think thats the title) is a touching story about a pair of co-joined twins (siamese twins, in which in this case they were americans) superbly potrayed by matt damon and greg kinnear. a touching story revolved around their dreams and aspirations, how they touched the lives of people they come across, and for the first time, sibling love was so clearly potrayed.
rushmore was a little, well, different. told in the viewpoint of an adolscent 16 year old, he discovers love, friendship, how to not mix love and friendship, and well, just being the most involved kid in school. its quite complex to narate the story in just a few lines here, but one must watch to appreciate what the poor kid is going through.
and finally, the man from ellysian fields. in short, its about an down and out man whose dream of becoming a writer eventually leads him to near poverty, and while looking at ways and means to make his and his family’s life better, he reluctantly accepts an offer to be a high profile gigolo. his life turns on a new leaf now, when he’s given the dream job of co-writing an ailing bestseller’s novel, and ehem, care for his young wife’s needs. but life takes its toil, he eventually gets cheated by his client, then gets dumped by his wife, works in a restaurant, and the whole works. finally gets his own novel out in the end, and reunites his family together again.
did you just read three movie reviews? you betcha. i’m ot being paid to give them great ratings and all, but these movies rock! better than sitting through 2 hours of mindless explosions and swearing and gunfights and badly-acted-reality shows. try to watch them when you have the chance to. i shall write more when i watch similar movies.
cheers!

Stuck On You: Love it! Totally funny!!
The other two I haven’t watched yet.
I understand what you’re writing though, I think of good movies like that as well.

Me, I love ‘A Walk to Remember’, watched that one? It’s from a book by Nicholas Sparks who writes lovely stories. Of course, everyone I know love this story, even guys though this movie is pretty much a chick flick.

Then there is ‘Under A Tuscan Sun’, it’s almost like ‘The Man in the ellysian fields’, just a female version of it. A woman’s journey of self discovery. Lovely!
