tipitty toeing on life, looking for takers!

greetings reader(s)….
the ability to soar the skies has been, historically one of human race’s most sought after achievement. we’ve always envied the natural-born aviators, our planet’s co-inhabitants whose natural ability to conquer the open blue skies were considered a technological horizon at one point of time. it has also been metaphorically used to represent freedom, one of the few essential rights we were all born with.
life, they say, is akin to reaching for the skies. were our forefather’s,teachers and beloved dumb to pronounce with heads held high that we should all strive to reach the skies? so what happens when we’ve reached the sky? look down…and stay up. if ya need to fall, do it gracefully…otherwise its a long plummet down….ugly scene if you were to ask me.
life, is also about inspirations. blue skies always are associated with happy days, and gloomy, cloudy skies can bring only misery(but i love the rain, so do i love gloom and misery?). subjective as it can be, but the sky is one of the factors that has helped us all achieve our creative best at whatever we do. tired? look up. open your window. look at the clouds. feeling the blues? it feels better when its raining. we have somewhat a symbiotic relationship with our skies. but what are we doing to preserve its bluish glory?
with the current state of human affairs, we’ve neglected the quality of air around us. Green trees are replaced with steel replicas with glowing neon lights for sun reflected natural, chlorophyll filled greenery. jungles are eradicated, only to be replaced with concrete behemoths that are both ugly (the things people put up in the name of creativity) and a total waste of earth space. we’ve polluted the earth so much, that pollution is the main output of our species. if animals were to talk, they would surely plan to board the next ship out of the place and look for another habitat.
pollution? evolution? we’ve evolved alright. evolved to pollute. and what can we do, as plain ordinary citizens? just do what you can to reduce. but that doesn’t mean you’ll have to invent a far more efficient catalytic converter for your vehicle(s) or so, just leave that to the experts. but you don’t have to be genius to do the smaller stuffs. things like intelligent waste management, where you separate the trash in accordance to its recyclable traits (i.e. glass with glass, paper with paper, tin with tin), efficient usage of water (if ya need to water the plants, collect rain water, be creative. but if no rain, the sorry - lah) etc. ask a primary school child to write about ways of conserving the environment, they will give you pages and pages of it. but will we follow?
sigh. i must take out the trash when i get back later. that reminds me…paper with paper, plastics with plastics, bottles with bottles….
so the next time your grand children wakes up to a beautiful morning, let them look at clear blue skies, and not like a scene out of science fiction….dark, gloomy skies, filled with toxic gasses…. scary!
cheers!
yours sincerely,
plain Joe
