tipitty toeing on life, looking for takers!

Greetings!
its been a whirlwind week for me. i’m finally realising my dream to become a writer, and its tough alright. but i ain’t stopping.
a couple of weeks back, i was given a book with the most peculiar and interesting of cover by a friend for review. i got more than i bargained for. a book review, a major interview/story, plus dinner with this guy and his PR girl. now whats it gotta do with tourism?
well, for starters, its the name of the book. tourism, by nirpal singh dhaliwal. its not the run-of-the-mill kinda lonely planet tourism guide book for begginers. tourism is about the journey one takes to realise their dreams, and the road is never smooth, full of pot holes and traffic stops all the way. its a coming of age book, which i will not reveal too much i hope. go read my review when its printed. but i’ll dwelve on some perspective of the book wich i’m bound from not saying in my review…
so, tourism. whats the big deal?
for starters, its not a kiddy kiddy book. very mature readers, lots of discrimininative powers, and the ability to reason out behind the veil of the obvious. its about life. and the journey that one takes to realise his potential, in a very crass and somewhat hard hitting way. and by jolly, some things did reflect on what i’m going through, well, the struggles at least. and i’m sure it will strike a note with many who picks it up.
my first meet with him changed alot of things too. you see, this guy is not the regular BBI (British born/bred Indian/Desi). he’s what i would call a fusion of western culture and indian culture. not those funky sitar playing cigar chomping people, but in character. and confident. this is one guy who’s been through a lot of flak growing up as a second/maybe third generation asian living in britain. and he shares alot of these (struggles) in his book.
so, an indian desi born in britain, book on life, whats so good about it?
frankly, its been one of the frankest book i’ve read in a while. it hits on you so hard, that you’ll end up sitting on your, ehem, seats, and think. then roll on the floor laughing. then think, then look blank. its a gamut of emotions.
then, i realise something. meeting this guy, has also brought out the somewhat real me. i love doing what i did last tuesday. being the rookie journalist is some experience. and its something i want to build on with. wanna check out a refreshing career with loads of fringe benefits and the ability to pursue a dream and becoming a somewhat celeb in the process? write dude! write!
dinner at sagar was just fantastic. nice place to give yerself a treat, and maybe your family, and neighbours, and friends, and dates, and maybe date’s parents, you get the drift. worthwhile. and the pr girl…… for the book publisher laa…. goodness…..
i was lost in translations. yeah. translations. its alot of languages thrown into one. she must have been Gus’s gift to tired eyes. sigh…. no names gonna be mentioned here…but the name is very poetic…. hahahahaha….read between the lines….
anyway….. yeah. i’m getting my groove back. slowly. stella tok a while, got a movie made. me? restrcited to blog only.
watch out folks…. pullizer prize…. here i come……………

hmmmm sounds interesting. So you’re a book critique! I’ve always wanted to write a book, but I’ve in so far, stuck to poetry. :) Anyway, all the best with your dreams!

yeah… writing does give me a high at times. so far, i’ve not lambasted anyone for thier writings, have to respect the work they put into their book. but just reviews in terms of content only, and an analysis of their philosophy….

    thanks for the wishes…

poetry? wow…. yeah…i think i’ve read some of your works on the net… got it blogged right? very good work indeed!
